Unable to repeat success at High-A
Morgan, 21, is hitting .253/.303/.371 with six home runs, 41 RBI and two steals through 89 games with High-A Down East.
ANALYSIS
In his second go-round at this level, Morgan has been unable to replicate his success from a season ago. After hitting .300 in 2016, Morgan has struggled to make hard contact this year. In addition, he has only average power and speed at best. Morgan has been a disappointment thus far for the Rangers since being drafted in the third round in 2014, but he is still just 21 years of age.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Morgan has the ability to hit .300, though his lack of power or speed will almost certainly limit his upside as he climbs the ladder in the minors. In 2016, Morgan slashed .300/.367/.394 in 128 games for High-A High Desert. He is patient at the dish and also makes fairly consistent contact, as evidence by only 61 strikeouts last year. However, he had just seven home runs despite playing in the hitter-friendly confines of the California League. Morgan also managed just four steals. Then there is the question of where he ends up playing in the field. While he played a lot of third base in 2016, Morgan's lack of size and power appears to make him better suited for a middle infield position like second base. The ability to hit for average is always valued, but Morgan's uncertain future with home runs and stolen bases will hinder him from a fantasy perspective.
