2024 Fantasy Outlook
Chourio became the fourth teenager to go 20-40 in the past 60 seasons, with Ronald Acuna being the most recent to accomplish the feat in 2017. He was also the first teenager to go 20-20 solely in the upper levels of the minors since Delmon Young in 2005. Chourio's surface stats weren't outstanding early in the year, in part due to the pre-tacked balls the Southern League used in the first half of the season. However, with standard balls back in play, Chourio slashed .324/.379/.538 with 11 home runs, 21 steals and a 13.4 percent strikeout rate in his final 57 games across Double-A and Triple-A, and he doesn't turn 20 until March. He has all the makings of a future first-round pick in fantasy, and he also happens to be an excellent defensive center fielder. The Brewers already have three very capable young defensive center fielders in Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell and Joey Wiemer, but they inked Chourio to a record-setting $80 million contract this offseason, so there are no financial incentives for the team to start him in the minors. 2023 Fantasy Outlook
Chourio made some noise on the backfields last spring around his 18th birthday, but nobody could have seen his historic 2022 season coming. A seven-figure international signee out of Venezuela in 2021, Chourio skipped over complex ball and was assigned directly to Single-A - a very aggressive assignment. He was unfazed, slashing .324/.373/.600, good for a 160 wRC+, with 12 home runs and 10 steals in 62 games before getting a bump to High-A. The only 18-year-olds who have done similar damage at that level are guys like Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna. Chourio's power (.236 ISO) was steady after the promotion, but his BABIP fell from .423 to .267, which impacted his slash line (.252/.317/.488). The Brewers rewarded Chourio with a brief taste of Double-A to close the year. Chourio's 35.2 Hard% is up there with Double-A and Triple-A sluggers who are 4-to-6 years older than him, and he is currently a plus runner. His 27.2 K% and 7.4 BB% aren't figures typically associated with top-10 prospects, but there aren't other examples of players his age logging a .947 OPS across three full-season levels, so it's hard to ding the plate skills too much at this stage. He could follow the Corbin Carroll/Gunnar Henderson path and debut in September if he excels in his age-19 season.

Youngest player to 20-20
Chourio's homer during Thursday's win against the Giants was his 20th of the season, making him the youngest player in MLB history to reach 20 home runs and 20 steals in a season, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
The 20-year-old inked an eight-year, $80 million extension with the Brewers in November before making his MLB debut, and he's lived up to the hype as a rookie with a .791 OPS through 132 games. Chourio got off to a slow start, as he had a .581 OPS in his first 50 big-league games, but he's put himself back in the NL Rookie of the Year conversation with a .305/.363/.540 slash line in 83 games since the start of June.
