Shut down with stress fracture
Luciano won't throw for 12 weeks after suffering a stress fracture in his right arm, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The given timeline means Luciano won't resume throwing until early August, and he'll still have to build back up over several weeks at that point before returning to game action. Luciano had been pitching for Double-A New Hampshire, where he'd allowed seven earned runs in three innings across a pair of starts.

Juan Pablo Aravena breaks down Tuesday's Toronto Blue Jays at Washington Nationals matchup for Dream11 contests.
2019 Fantasy Outlook
The Blue Jays made an extremely ambitious move by selecting Luciano in December's Rule 5 draft, as the pitcher's only professional experience is two seasons of rookie ball. The 18-year-old throws hard and compiled a 3.90 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 70:25 K:BB over 67 innings during 2018. The Blue Jays will have to stash him on the roster for the entire season in order to retain his rights long term. With Toronto not expected to be competitive, they will probably be content to simply bury/hide Luciano in the bullpen before sending him back to the minors to continue his development in 2020. The young right-hander has significant upside, but given his age and limited professional experience, he's bound to struggle at the major-league level in 2019. His long-term outlook remains bright.
