Drew Robinson

Robinson was the most versatile player on the Rangers' roster last season, logging at least nine innings at five different positions. Though he'll only have eligibility at outfield and third base to begin 2018, Robinson's ability to capably defend multiple spots should make him the frontrunner for a utility role with the club this spring. The 25-year-old projects as a bench bat over the long haul, but he could surprise if he's given an extended audition for a starting gig at some point. Though the 34.7 percent strikeout rate he posted in 2017 was an eyesore, Robinson maintained the power and plate discipline he demonstrated in the high minors in his first exposure to big-league pitching, albeit in a limited sample. Robinson's .215 ISO was the fifth-best mark among Rangers hitters, placing him ahead of established regulars like Carlos Gomez, Rougned Odor, Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara. Robinson's contact issues may forever make him a batting-average liability, but his sneaky pop could be enough to make him an appealing endgame target in AL-only leagues.

Robinson has been with the Rangers organization for his entire seven-year career, but 2016 marked the first time that he was able to be a full-time member of Texas' Triple-A squad in Round Rock. His performance last season was consistent with the years prior. Although his batting average was less than stellar (.257), the utility man walked at an excellent 12.2 percent clip and was three stolen bases away from a 20/20 season. Pair those numbers with his 24 doubles and 10 triples and he managed to end up with a solid .830 OPS. His strikeout rate left much to be desired (27.5 percent), but his .223 ISO kept his stock high enough for the Rangers to protect him from the Rule 5 draft in November. There are many other options ahead of him in the organizational pecking order, but Robinson could work his way into a reserve utility role with a strong spring or another solid campaign at Triple-A.
