The Brewers can't seem to quit Ray, but dynasty-league managers should feel no such loyalty. If it weren't for his pedigree (No. 5 overall pick in 2016) and the fact he was general manager David Stearns' first-ever draft pick, he probably would not have been protected from the Rule 5 draft this offseason. He had a 38 wRC+ and 38.7 K% in 230 PA as a 24-year-old in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. There are dozens of players his age who performed significantly better than that in the PCL last year that you have probably never heard of. The ultimate optimist could point to a hand injury he suffered in spring training and a wrist injury later in the season as the reason for his struggles. If he somehow took massive strides as a hitter, his plus-plus speed would make him interesting in fantasy.
