Healthy at High-A
SSTexas Rangers  AA
April 11, 2022
Seise (knee) has appeared in two games this season for High-A Hickory, going 2-for-7 with a solo home run, two additional runs and two walks.
ANALYSIS
Seise has made both of his starts at designated hitter, which suggests his surgically-repaired right knee might not quite be at 100 percent after he underwent surgery last May to repair a torn ACL. Even so, the fact that Seise avoided the injured list to begin the season suggests that the Rangers are confident enough in the health of his knee to run the bases. He should resume his usual duties in the infield within a few weeks.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
The Rangers surprisingly popped Seise at the back of the first round, but it looks like they knew what they were doing. Coming into the draft, he was seen as a glove-first shortstop. However, he flashed an impressive combination of power and speed in the AZL, often outshining the more highly touted Bubba Thompson, whom the Rangers selected three picks earlier in the draft. Had he qualified, Seise's .509 SLG and .904 OPS would have both ranked fifth in the league. His early success (partially fueled by a .429 BABIP) led to a promotion to the Northwest League. The level jump understandably proved to be a challenge for the 18-year-old, with his strikeout rate going from 23.3 percent to 28.8 percent and his 7.0 percent walk rate dropping to 3.8 percent. At 6-foot-2, 175 pounds and with good bat speed, Seise could grow into above-average game power to go with above-average speed on the bases, leaving the door slightly open for a 20-20 season early in his career -- a feat accomplished by only one shortstop last year (Elvis Andrus).
