2025 Fantasy Outlook
Rodon bounced back from a terrible 2023 debut with the Yankees with a respectable 2024 season. It is a rarity these days to see a pitcher earn a decision in 78% of their starts, but Rodon earned 16 wins and 9 losses in 32 starts while nearly matching his career high for innings set in 2022. Rodon's 16 wins and 195 strikeouts were welcomed contributions to both the Yankees' roster and many fantasy rosters, but the ratios were not nearly as welcomes. The 1.22 WHIP was not as bad as the 3.96 ERA, and the latter can be directly tied to the 1.6 HR/9 Rodon pitched to last season. The popular thought is Yankee Stadium punishes him, when in fact he has permitted more homers on the road (24) than at home (22) since joining the Yankees. The home run issue was extremely prevalent in 2024 off his fastball as 21 of his 31 homers came off a fastball that has become much more hittable these days than it was before him joining the Yankees. Rodon added a cutter in 2024 while dialing back the fastball to help offset that damage, but the fact remains Rodon's fastball is not what it once was. He needs a usable third pitch against righties because they are inflicting nealry all the home run damage of late hitting 40 of the 46 homers off the southpaw. Read Past Outlooks
Blister issue considered manageable
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Monday that the blister issue Rodon dealt with during his World Series Game 2 start is "manageable" and is not expected to prevent him from making another start, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The blister might have affected Rodon's command against the Dodgers, particularly with his slider. However, it does not appear he's in danger of missing a start, which is tentatively slated for Friday in Game 6, if necessary. Rodon yielded three home runs and four runs in total in his Game 2 loss.

Year 1 of Rodon's six-year, $162 million pact with the Yankees was a disaster, as he missed a large portion of the season due to injury and struggled to a 6.85 ERA in his 64.1 innings on the mound. He suffered a forearm strain in spring training before later dealing with back and hamstring injuries. The back remains a concern moving forward after Rodon revealed in May that it's a chronic issue. Of course he's also battled a myriad of elbow and shoulder trouble in his career, so the lefty has to be considered a giant health risk. He was trending in a positive direction in 2021-22 -- he ranked second among pitchers in fWAR across those two seasons behind only Gerrit Cole and Zack Wheeler -- and his breaking stuff was still effective last season. Pitchers don't tend to get healthier in their 30s, but Rodon should be in the Yankees' rotation when available and the results should be better on a per-start basis.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
New pitch making impact
Rodon developed a cutter during the offseason and is utilizing it at a 13.8 percent clip through six starts, reports Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.
ANALYSIS
Modern pitch tracking allowed the left-hander to quickly develop and refine the pitch, which he's using as a third offering behind his four-seamer and slider. Rodon has heavily relied on those two main pitches over the past few years, with his changeup and curveball combining for under 15 percent usage since 2021. The early results in 2024 are promising with a 2.48 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 32.2 innings.
