Andy Pages

24-Year-Old OutfielderOF
Los Angeles Dodgers
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Pages wasn't certain to see much work in the majors entering 2024, but he ended up playing in 116 games due both to the struggles of James Outman and Mookie Betts' move to the infield. Pages predictably encountered spurts of both success and struggle, and he finished the campaign with a .248/.305/.407 slash line along with 13 homers, 46 RBI and one stolen base over 442 plate appearances. Pages twice hit over 25 homers in a season in the minors and seems likely to tap into more power in the majors given his 73rd percentile barrel rate and 97th percentile launch-angle sweet-spot rate last season, but he's not much of a base-stealer and probably won't be a factor in that regard at any point in his career. The 24-year-old showed enough as a rookie -- both on offense and defense -- to open 2025 with a big-league role, and depending on who the Dodgers add in the offseason, he could even be a regular starter. A platoon scenario could also be in the cards given his splits (.917 OPS vs. lefties, .647 against righties) last year. Read Past Outlooks

Stat Review
How does Andy Pages compare to other hitters?
This section compares his stats with all batting seasons from the previous three seasons (minimum 400 plate appearances)*. The bar represents the player's percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway across, then the player falls into the 50th percentile for that stat and it would be considered average.

* Exit Velocity and Barrels/PA % are benchmarked against 2019 data (min 400 PA) and Hard Hit Rate is benchmarked against last season's data (min 400 PA). See here for more exit velocity/barrels stats plus an explanation of current limitations with that data set.
  • BB/K
    Walk to strikeout ratio
  • BB Rate
The percentage of plate appearances resulting in a walk.
  • K Rate
The percentage of plate appearances resulting in a strikeout.
  • BABIP
Batting average on balls in play. Measures how many of a batter’s balls in play go for hits.
  • ISO
Isolated Power. Slugging percentage minus batting average. A computation used to measure a batter's raw power.
  • AVG
Batting average. Hits divided by at bats.
  • OBP
On Base Percentage. A measure of how often a batters reaches base. Roughly equal to number of times on base divided by plate appearances.
  • SLG
Slugging Percentage. A measure of the batting productivity of a hitter. It is calculated as total bases divided by at bats.
  • OPS
On base plus slugging. THe sum of a batter's on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
  • wOBA
Weighted on-base average. Measures a player's overall offensive contributions per plate appearance. wOBA combines all the different aspects of hitting into one metric, weighting each of them in proportion to their actual run value.
  • Exit Velocity
The speed of the baseball as it comes off the bat, immediately after a batter makes contact.
  • Hard Hit Rate
A measure of contact quality from Sports Info Solutions. This stat explains what percentage of batted balls were hit hard vs. medium or soft.
  • Barrels/PA
The percentage of plate appearances where a batter had a batted ball classified as a Barrel. A Barrel is a batted ball with similar exit velocity and launch angle to past ones that led to a minimum .500 batting average and 1.500 slugging percentage.
  • Expected BA
    Expected Batting Average.
  • Expected SLG
    Expected Slugging Percentage.
  • Sprint Speed
The speed of a runner from home to first, in feet per second.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2023
2020
Pages got his first promotion to Triple-A last season, but he tore the labrum in his left shoulder in his first contest and didn't play the remainder of the campaign. Prior to the injury, he posted a strong .284/.430/.486 slash line over 142 plate appearances in Double-A, though his three homers marked a big power dip in comparison to his previous minor-league campaigns. Despite that, his .205 ISO remained very promising, and he cut down on his punchouts with a 22.5 percent strikeout rate to go with a big 18.7 percent walk rate. Pages isn't likely to hit for a high average in the majors, and he's not a difference-maker as a base stealer, so his future as a fantasy asset will depend on his ability to harness his 70-grade power. Based on the Dodgers' current roster construction, there's a path for Pages to see some major-league work in the corner outfield as soon as next season, though 2025 seems like a more reasonable target for him to to potentially move into a significant role.
Pages emerged from 2022 with some troubling indicators. First, the right-handed slugger had a .696 OPS and 25.2 K% in 435 plate appearances against righties and a 1.147 OPS and 22.1 K% in 136 plate appearances against lefties. His best run of the year came in the hitter-friendly Arizona Fall League, where he hit .296/.398/.506 with five home runs and a 12:9 K:BB in 98 plate appearances. However, his middling production as a bat-first 21-year-old at Double-A is a more telling data point than his 22-game run in the AFL. The Dodgers are always going to have too much talent on the roster to play someone like Pages every day if he isn't handling same-handed pitchers, so he either needs to improve or get traded to a second-division club. If everything breaks perfectly for Pages, he could be a Marcell Ozuna type, and he is young enough that we shouldn't completely rule out that possibility just yet.
Beware falling in love with a prospect based on their production in the Pioneer League. Pages, a 19-year-old slugging right fielder, hit .236 in the Dominican Summer League and .192 in the AZL in 2018, but broke out in a big way with a 1.049 OPS and 165 wRC+ playing in the ridiculously hitter-friendly conditions of the Pioneer League. While his overall production soared, his K% spiked from 16.5% to 28.3% while his BB% dipped from 13.7% to 9.3%. He has always logged unsustainably high flyball rates (over 53% at every stop), but that type of swing only really works in an environment like the Pioneer League. He has a plus arm, plus power and is an average runner, so he is not uninteresting, but this offseason may very well end up being the peak of his dynasty-league value.

Turning things around?
OFLos Angeles Dodgers
June 4, 2024
Pages is in the midst of a five-game hit streak, during which he's gone 9-for-17 with a double, an RBI and three runs.
ANALYSIS
The rookie outfielder had just nine hits in his 73 at-bats prior to the streak, which resulted in his season slash line dropping to .225/.257/.377 through 36 games. The 23-year-old has operated as the Dodgers' primary center fielder since James Outman was demoted in mid-May, and Pages should continue to fill that role for the time being.
