The Padres acquired Holiday and pitcher Sean Manaea from the Athletics on Sunday in exchange for pitcher Adrian Martinez and infielder Euribiel Angeles, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Holiday is merely a throw-in piece in the deal, with Manaea being the main prize for the Friars. A 13th-round draft pick in 2021, the 21-year-old Holiday made three appearances at the rookie-ball level for Oakland in his inaugural professional season. The right-hander could report back to the Athletics' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate to begin the 2022 campaign, but he shouldn't have to wait long for a full-season assignment.
