Morris was traded to the Pirates on Thursday for a player to be named later, Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
Morris was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs in late January, but when both Matt Clark and Jason Rogers were optioned there in a recent slew of transactions, there simply wasn't a spot available for the former Brewers' minor league player of the year. He's unlikely to see much time in Pittsburgh either, but should at least see steady reps in Triple-A.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2015
2014
2013
Morris was a top-10 prospect for the Brewers as recently as a year ago, but his star is fading after a couple average years in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coasts League. He hit a respectable .279 with Triple-A Nashville last season and did miss a few weeks with a broken arm, but he did not show marked improvement in his plate discipline and was passed over for a September promotion in favor of journeyman Matt Clark. Outrighted to Triple-A by the Brewers in January, Morris' path to the big leagues may be with another organization anyway after Adam Lind was acquired by the Brewers in November to take over as the team's starting first baseman.
Morris jumped up prospect lists after posting a .920 OPS with Double-A Huntsville in 2012, but his star faded a bit when he posted a .766 mark in the hitter-friendly PCL last season. Morris possesses good power, but he will also have to cut his strikeout rate sharply if he hopes to regain the success he had with the bat two years ago. Morris is still considered the Brewers’ first baseman of the future, but his average numbers from a season ago will likely have him ticketed for Triple-A once again in 2014.
Morris' prospect status took a big jump forward last season as he hit .303 with 28 home runs and 117 RBI to win Southern League MVP honors. More importantly, he raised his OBP from .301 to .357 and made strides defensively by committing just six errors. At age 24 and coming off a breakout season, Morris figures to open 2013 as the starting first baseman at Triple-A Nashville. While he is not going to challenge Corey Hart next year, another big season could lead the Brewers to let Hart go via free agency and make Morris a candidate for the first-base job in 2014.
