Rest-of-Season Projections
Miranda went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's game against Triple-A Indianapolis. He now has two home runs and a .202/.318/.302 line for the season.
ANALYSIS
Miranda continues to strikeout in almost a quarter of his plate appearances, and his .100 ISO (lowest of his minor league career) does not bode well for the first baseman. It is hard to imagine the Rays being desperate enough to call up Miranda, and it would be difficult for him to find time playing time at DH with Luke Scott and Hideki Matsui. He should be happy that he still has a job in Triple-A with the way his season has gone.

Miranda had a couple of stints with the Yankees last season but saw few opportunities, hitting .219 in just 71 plate appearances. An offseason trade to Arizona should pave the way for much more playing time, as the Diamondbacks have him penciled in as their starting first baseman. He probably won't be a great contact hitter in the desert, but he can get on base (.374 OBP at Triple-A) and has some power (.481 SLG). Further, D-Backs general manager Kevin Towers may have seen something he liked while working as a special assistant to the Yankees last season, so there's reason to believe he'll be given plenty of chances to succeed with his new club.
