Rest-of-Season Projections
Frandsen will start Thursday's game against the Padres at first base and bat eighth.
ANALYSIS
Frandsen's contract was selected by the Giants on Wednesday following the news that concussion symptoms that will keep Brandon Belt sidelined indefinitely. While he doesn't have a ton of experience at first base, Frandsen has played the position in the past, and could figure into the mix at first until Belt is cleared to play. The veteran utility player hit a combined .280/.338/.356 at Triple-A between two different organizations this season, but has limited value at the major league level.

After being drafted by the Giants in 2004, Frandsen found his way back on the club's roster mid-2015. After slashing .272/.334/.362 with Triple-A Sacramento, he got a brief callup in September in which he collected a pair of hits in 13 plate appearances. At age 33, he is not going to get any better, but his ability to play multiple positions will keep him on a team's minor league roster.
