Hannahan signed a one-year, $1 million contract to play for the LG Twins in South Korea, the Korea Herald reports.

The Reds have a penchant for giving two-year deals out to some really scrubby players -- Hannahan, Cesar Izturis and Skip Schumaker have been among those on the receiving end of their largess during the Walt Jocketty regime. By and large these deals haven't worked out, and Hannahan's deal could have been the worst among them. With a full offseason of rest, Hannahan's shoulder should be closer to 100 percent next season, but at age 35, it's debatable whether we'll be able to tell the difference if he even gets a major league job again. He signed with the LG Twins to play in South Korea and may end up finishing his career overseas.

It's not easy to build a good bench, and it's not easy to be a good pinch-hitter. But during the Reds' competitive stretch over the last five years, they've had a lot of problems finding good bench bats. Hannahan is the latest attempt by the Reds to find such a useful player, and he fell short in 2013, hitting just .216/.317/.288 with only one homer, despite playing in Great American Ballpark. As much as the Reds wanted to find an alternative for Todd Frazier during his deepest slumps, Hannahan was even worse.

Hannahan inherited the third-base job in Cleveland out of spring training after Lonnie Chisenhall spit the bit and held onto the job far longer than many expected despite some struggles (.654 OPS in 105 games) at the plate. The Reds will use him as a glove-first complement to Todd Frazier after signing him as a free agent in December.

Hannahan saw plenty of action for the Indians after opening the season as the team's starter at third base after the injury to Jason Donald and the subsequent unwillingness to turn the keys over to Lonnie Chisenhall while the team was still somewhat in contention. He hit .250 with eight homers in 110 games and earned himself a spot as a reserve infielder for this year as a result. The Indians are fully expected to hand the starting duties at the hot corner over to Chisenhall, but Hannahan would likely jump back into a starting role if Chisenhall struggles thanks in large part to his plus defensive work at the hot corner.

The Mariners needed fielding help last year and called on Hannahan midseason to lend his elite glove. While he's adroit in the field, Hannahan's bat is about as non-elite as an everyday player can get. His best hope for this season is that the Mariners keep him around as a backup infielder, as he can play first base, third base and shortstop.

Hannahan did his part as the cornerstone of one of the worst hitting infields in recent history, joined by Daric Barton, Mark Ellis and Bobby Crosby. The 436 at-bats are bound to be his career high, and the A's are smartly looking for other options at third base in the event that Eric Chavez hits the DL again.

Hannahan was the everyday third baseman for the A's the final six weeks of the season after being acquired from the Tigers. He did decent as a fill-in, but showed little power and will likely begin the year at the back end of the A's bench unless Eric Chavez remains sidelined into the regular season.
