Dallas Braden: Retiring
Braden (shoulder) is retiring from Major League Baseball, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Braden finishes his five-year MLB career with a 26-36 record, but what he'll be most remembered for is pitching the 19th perfect game in major league history during the 2010 season. Since then, Braden has endured multiple shoulder surgeries and while he intended on making a comeback this season, a recent MRI showed that another setback had derailed any chance of Braden regaining his throwing ability.

After only appearing in three games in 2011, Braden missed the entire 2012 season and there is some concern that he may never regain his health to the point of being able to retire big league hitters again. As a pitcher who never had great pure stuff, any decline in skills just makes the margin of error even smaller for Braden. The A's did not pick up his option and he is currently looking for a new mound to claim as his own. At least no one can ever take his perfect game away!
