Dillon started the 2008 season on the Milwaukee bench, but spent the majority of the year at Triple-A Nashville. The 33-year-old is best used as a bench player, which is where he will likely fill in for the Oakland A's in 2009.
The Brewers signed Dillon as Triple-A filler after he spent 2006 in Japan, but he turned out to be a key player in helping the Brewers make a run at first place by the end of the season. Dillon hit .342/.390/.500 in 39 games with Milwaukee in 2007 and may have earned himself a roster spot in 2008. His ability to play the infield and outfield positions make him an ideal bench player, which is where he'd be in Milwaukee.
Dillon had his second straight massive Triple-A campaign, but flopped in a brief audition with the Marlins and doesn't seem to be in their future plans. The odds are good that he could wind up as nothing more than a late-blooming Quadruple-A player.
Dillon's 2004 was just silly. Out of baseball in 2003, he returned to post an OPS of over 1.000 at both Double-A and Triple-A. The re-signing of Damion Easley probably costs Dillon a shot at a major league job this year though.
Dillon is a Rule V draft pick out of the Kansas City organization with decent plate discipline. The Twins are not deep at 3B so a hot spring could be a factor, but more than likely he'll be back in the minors for another club.
