Frank Sinatra once sang, “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere..” The old baseball adage goes, “If you can’t hit in Colorado, you can’t hit anywhere.” This applies to Pacheco. He has not shown the ability to hit for any power at the major league level, as he has a career slugging percentage of .374. He has used two hitter-friendly parks to hit for a decent empty average, but he also does not profile as even a decent defender anywhere on the field. Pacheco was fun to speculate on when he qualified at catcher, but you have to rake at the plate for a team to carry a bad glove behind the dish in this day and age of pitch framing. Pacheco does neither and that’s why the Diamondbacks outrighted him off the 40-man roster this winter. If you play in a Triple-A league, he is endgame material.
