Rest-of-Season Projections
Havens, one of the Mets' two, first-round picks in 2008, along with Ike Davis, retired on Wednesday due to his recurring back issues, ESPN New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Havens was projected to be the Mets' second baseman of the future when he was drafted, but injuries to his oblique and back kept him on the sidelines more than on the field.

Havens, whose career has been limited and derailed by injuries, played just 87 games in 2012 due to back woes. That injury history and lack of progress has dropped him down in the team's prospect pecking order and nearly exposed the former first-round pick to Rule 5 waivers this offseason. Havens will try to get his career back on track at Double-A Binghamton and could end up at Triple-A Las Vegas with a strong season.
