Rest-of-Season Projections
Hits free agency
Beckham elected free agency Monday after clearing waivers.
ANALYSIS
Rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A St. Paul after the Twins designated him for assignment Aug. 26, Beckham will get a head start on finding a new organization ahead of the 2023 season. The 32-year-old didn't find much success in his brief stint in the majors with Minnesota earlier this season, getting on base just twice in 25 plate appearances over 12 games.

Injuries and suspension cost Beckham time in his first and only year with the Mariners. The 30-year-old will have to serve the remaining 32 games of his ban -- for a positive test for Stanozolol -- to begin the 2020 season, assuming he's able to find a team. He was close to league average with the bat during his time on the field in 2019, though there is still a ton of room for improvement with his plate discipline. His 31.1 K% would have ranked second worst in the majors had he logged enough plate appearances to qualify, fueled by a 13.5% swinging-strike rate. The middle infielder doesn't showcase much speed on the basepaths, recording just one stolen base in each of the past two seasons. Beckham's playing time has been inconsistent throughout his career due to injuries, and the remainder of his suspension means that he won't play a full season in 2020.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could reunite with Baltimore
The Orioles remain in touch with Beckham (suspension) and have discussed signing him to a minor-league deal, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
There's been little buzz about the soon-to-be 30-year-old during the offseason, a development that doesn't come as a surprise given that he'll be suspended for the first 32 games of the season along with the fact that he likely projects as a utility man for most teams. The Orioles are one of the few organizations where Beckham could have a path to steady playing time, however, even if Baltimore isn't immediately willing to add him to its 40-man roster at the start of the spring. Before being suspended last August for violating baseball's performance-enhancing substance policy, Beckham was roughly a league-average hitter for the Mariners, slashing .237/.293/.461 (99 wRC+) across 328 plate appearances.
