DiFelice has been outrighted off the Brewers' 40-man roster, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Expect DiFelice to receive an invitation to Brewers training camp, as they'll hope he can recapture the magic of 2009, when he posted a 3.66 ERA in 51.2 innings thanks to a magical 84 MPH cutter which stymied right-handed hitters.

DiFelice returned after missing the entire 2010 season due to shoulder surgery. He threw 29 innings for Triple-A Nashville where he had a 2.17 ERA and 31 strikeouts. The Brewers may give him a look during spring training, but he'll be a long shot to make the roster regardless of where he ends up after getting outrighted from the 40-man roster in the offseason. If he's able to earn a job, DiFelice figures to work in middle relief.
DiFelice missed all of 2010 after having surgery to repair a torn labrum. He'll attempt to work his way back, but that will be tough at the age of 34. Considering that his stuff was far from overpowering to begin with, there's not much in his skill set that you be banking on.
DiFelice continued to befuddle right-handed batters with his 83-mph cut fastball in 2009. A midseason arm injury derailed his season, however, and he'll miss all of 2010 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder.
The 32-year-old DiFelice made his MLB debut in 2008 and had a 2.84 ERA in 19 innings. His 9.47 K/9IP and 1.89 BB/9IP rates look good, but allowing 1.89 HR/9IP will drag things down. He rarely breaks 85 mph on the radar gun so when he misses with a pitch it generally gets pounded. He's continually put up solid numbers in the minors, but there are a lot of concerns that he won't be able to get it done in the majors. It's likely that he'll start the season at Triple-A again with a possible call to the majors to fill in for an injured player.
