2019 Fantasy Outlook
Fillmyer made his major-league debut in mid-June and stuck with the Royals for the rest of the year, making 13 starts and four relief appearances. His 4.26 ERA was decent enough, but both his 16.6 K% and 9.3 BB% were worse than average, leading to a 4.75 FIP that suggests some regression is in order. Nothing in his minor-league track record suggests that he's about to take a step forward, as his strikeout and walk rates in 13 starts for Triple-A Omaha prior to his promotion were a near match for his big-league numbers. He has a fastball that can touch 96 mph, decent secondaries and mediocre control. Fillmyer has a chance for more remaining development than most 24-year-olds, as he was a shortstop as an amateur and hasn't been on the mound for long, but his ceiling isn't particularly high. He'll likely be a swingman for the Royals in 2019.
