The Rays reassigned Santos to their minor-league camp Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Santos made 15 appearances (one start) with the Blue Jays a season ago, but he didn't make much of a run at an Opening Day bullpen gig with the Rays after attending camp as a non-roster invitee. Expect him to report to Triple-A Durham to begin the season.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
Santos worked primarily as a starter with Triple-A Buffalo last season, but he was deployed exclusively out of the bullpen following his September callup. The surface numbers with the big club were strong, but the ERA estimators suggest Santos was lucky to finish where he did (5.08 FIP, 4.63 xFIP, 3.79 SIERA). While Santos turned in respectable strikeout and walk rates (8.6 K/9, 2.2 BB/9), he struggled with the long ball, serving up four homers in just 16.2 innings. His track record at the upper levels of the minors and low 50.0 first-pitch strike rate portend regression with the walk rate if Santos gets another chance in the big-league bullpen in 2018. He was outrighted off the 40-man but ultimately re-signed with Toronto on a minor-league deal. The right-hander will attend big-league camp in spring training, but he may end up spending most of the season back at Triple-A in 2018.
