Carson was claimed off waivers by the Angels in October after posting a forgettable 8.24 ERA with the Mets in 19.2 innings last season. This being the case, he will likely start 2014 in the minor leagues and provide organizational depth. Though Carson has generally struggled throughout his career, he is a left-handed reliever who has the ability to limit home runs, so he may have an opportunity to establish himself as a specialist in an Angels bullpen that is in need of some new blood.
