Josh Lueke

Lueke was traded in November to the Rays where he'll bolster a strong bullpen from a middle-relief role. Lueke made his major-league debut last season out of spring training with a trip to Triple-A sandwiched around two stints with Mariners. His overall numbers appear skewed thanks to a handful of of disasters. Lueke allowed 22 earned runs last season, but 18 came in five games. He had a 1.29 ERA in his remaining 20 appearances. The 6-foot-5 fireballer pitches in the mid-90s with a good slider and splitter. Lueke appears to have a bright future if he can harness his stuff, but his character was tarnished when he was charged with rape and sodomy in 2009 (he plead no contest to a lesser charge), which probably made it easier for the Mariners to move him.
