Rest-of-Season Projections
LaHair was reassigned to the Red Sox's minor league camp Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After an unsuccessful stint in the minors with the Indians last season, LaHair will likely serve as organizational depth at first base and the corner outfield. The 32-year-old, who was an All-Star with the Cubs back in 2012, figures to open the year at Double-A Portland, should the Red Sox choose to keep him around after the spring.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

The 29-year-old LaHair crushed Triple-A to the tune of .331/.405/.664 last year, hitting 38 homers in just 461 at-bats. And he more than held his own in a 58-at-bat cup of coffee in the majors down the stretch. With Carlos Pena a free agent, and Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer not likely to break the bank for Prince Fielder, LaHair could very well get a shot in spring training to win the team's first-base job. LaHair's contact rate makes him a batting average risk in the majors, but there's little doubt he could hit 20-25 homers in a full season of major league at-bats. LaHair will still begin the season as the first baseman even after the acquisition of Anthony Rizzo, who will start off at Triple-A Iowa.

LeHair (wrist) was hitless in three at-bats in his first exhibition game appearance Sunday, MLB.com reports. "They said he swung the bat pretty well," manager Terry Francona said. "It was a pretty good report. Again, your first three at-bats, whether he hits a ball 500 feet or he trickles one to second, you just want to see him get healthy and get some repetition.
