Ian Seymour

26-Year-Old PitcherP
2025 Fantasy Outlook
An older lefty who turned 26 this offseason and had Tommy John surgery in 2022, Seymour dominated Double-A and Triple-A hitters in 2024 to the tune of a 2.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 162:41 K:BB in 145.1 innings. He actually made two starts at Triple-A late in 2021 just to keep pitching after the High-A season wrapped up. Seymour's fastball velocity isn't great (sits in the low-90s), but it's got good movement, and he's incredibly crafty. He's got a plus changeup and a quality cutter, and that might be enough to get by against big-league hitters if he can throw strikes and pitch with confidence. The Rays have a plethora of rotation options, but Seymour is on the 40-man roster and should be heard from at some point this season. Given his poor fastball velocity and relatively shallow repertoire, he'll have a small margin for error as a starter, and the Rays could opt to have him work as a bulk reliever initially.
