Recommended Pickup
Casey Kelly, P, SDP: Kelly has been a member of Baseball-America's top-100 prospects three years running, reaching as high as #24 prior to the 2010 season. That alone should perk the ears of any prospective buyers. Pitching six three-hit innings against the Braves in his long-awaited Major League debut on Monday will pique one's interest even further.

The 22-year-old Kelly has had some struggles in the minor leagues since his first professional season when he posted a 2.08 ERA. In 2010, his second year, he had a 5.31 ERA in 21 starts for Double-A Portland. Repeating the level in 2011 saw an improvement up to a 3.98 ERA.

He has, unfortunately, dealt with an elbow issue for much of 2012, allowing him to make just eight minor league starts. Still, Kelly has pitched well in those eight starts, with a 3.35 ERA and an uncharacteristic 9.3 K/9. The Padres rotation has been dealing with plenty of injuries themselves and Kelly should see at least a couple more starts. He could be a risky play, but now that he is finally healthy he could also make a fantasy owner look good.

Other Recent Recommendations: David Phelps, Ike Davis, John Mayberry, Pedro Ciriaco, Tyler Skaggs
