Closer Watch
Giants - Santiago Casilla returned from a knee injury to secure his 15th save of the season Thursday. As long as he's healthy, he should remain the primary option in the ninth inning for manager Bruce Bochy as he's filled in admirably for Brian Wilson.
Mets - Frank Francisco gave up a solo home run to Ryan Zimmerman before shutting the door on the Nationals on Thursday. Ultimately, the Mets appear to be willing to give him a long leash as their closer, and it's also worth noting that the home run Thursday snapped an eight-appearance scoreless streak for Francisco.
Pirates - Joel Hanrahan gave up a solo home run to Ryan Ludwick and walked a batter before finishing the ninth inning against the Reds on Thursday. It was a blown save opportunity for the Bucs' closer, who was credited with the win after departing when the Bucs rallied for the game-winning run in the 10th inning. Chris Resop picked up the save after entering the game with a one-run lead in the 10th, but Hanrahan's job security is hardly in question.

Recommended Pickup
Justin Maxwell, OF, HOU - The Astros will go on the road to American League parks for six of their next nine games (@ White Sox, @ Rangers), and with Carlos Lee on the disabled list the DH spot will likely create an opportunity for an extra outfielder to enter the mix for playing time. Maxwell has displayed good power since being called up by the Astros, swatting five homers in 83 at-bats while collecting most of his starts against left-handed pitching. A low contact rate hitter (61 percent this season), Maxwell should be consider a short-term addition in deeper formats, as he's unlikely to become a long-term solution as an everyday player in Houston.
Other Recent Recommendations: Michael Saunders, Jarrod Parker, Michael Fiers, Felix Doubront, Vin Mazzaro
