Moore was released by the Falcons on Monday, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Moore has managed just two complete 16-game seasons in his seven-year career, and 2015 wasn't one of them. Limited to 11 appearances due to groin and ankle concerns, he was eventually placed on injured reserve as a result of the latter injury, but not before totaling 51 tackles (38 solo), two interceptions, and one forced fumble. While he turns 31 in the offseason, he likely can offer safety depth to another organization, as long as he remains healthy.

Moore’s 2014 campaign was one to forget on the back side of a solid showing the year prior. The veteran safety failed to record an interception after totaling 14 picks the previous four seasons. However, a shoulder injury contributed largely to his decline, costing him nine games last season. The good news is that Moore will enter the 2015 season with a clean bill of health, and he’ll return to his starting role as the strong safety. If he can remain healthy, Moore could return to 2013 form when he racked up 86 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions.
After posting 75 tackles, one sack and four interceptions in 12 games during the 2012 season, the Falcons rewarded Moore with a five-year, $32 million contract extension despite playing in just 12 games in back-to-back seasons. He showed last season that the money was well spent, as he managed to play all 16 games and set career-highs with 86 tackles (67 solo) and two sacks. Throw in another three interceptions, and he's picked off nine passes in the last three seasons. He's a consistent performer when he's healthy and he should continue to see a high number of snaps this season, keeping his DB IDP value high.
Moore will start at strong safety this for the Falcons, a team which lost many key pieces of their secondary.
Moore is pegged to start at strong safety for the Falcons this season, but they brought in Charles Mitchell in the draft to hopefully push Moore to the next level. Moore notched 54 total tackles in 12 games last season, and if he can stay healthy he could top 70 tackles in 2012.
During his sophomore season, Moore managed to displace Erik Coleman as the Falcons’ starting strong safety in 2010, and he did fairly well for himself from that position. He totaled 72 tackles (59 solo) and five interceptions and has plenty of upside to improve upon those figures. And unlike most players with strong safety builds, Moore has the athleticism to remain a playmaker in coverage.
Moore will backup Erik Coleman at strong safety.
The loss of Laywer Milloy opens the doors for a lot of Falcons players to get a shot at a starting role, and the rookie Moore is one of them. At worst, he'll back up Erik Coleman at free safety and be used on special teams, but his explosiveness and open-field tackling prowess makes him a good option for running plays.
