Pryce was the Ravens best pass rusher last season with 6.5 sacks. He only had 31 total tackles however, and will be 35 by the time the season starts. Add in competition from the addition of Cory Redding, and Pryce is tough to recommend in IDP leagues.
Pryce was the Ravens' best pass rusher from a three-point stance in 2008, recording 4.5 sacks among 27 tackles. Those numbers are a far cry from his 2006 numbers, however, when he had 47 tackles along with 13 sacks. The Ravens' 3-4 scheme relies more on the linebacker corps to pressure the quarterback, limiting Pryce's IDP potential, especially as he ages. Pryce will be 34 in August.
Pryce was hurt last season but logged 13 sacks back in 2006. He could show back up on the IDP radar and post a double-digit sack total if he can remain healthy all year long, though you must also keep in mind that he'll be 33 years old by the season's commencement.
Pryce's reemergence as a top pass rusher last year led to 13 sacks, tying his career high from 1999. Healthy and 10 pounds lighter, Pryce will once again be dealing with double teams.
Only four sacks last year with the Broncos, but the Ravens are looking for more from Pryce this year.
Pryce has been moved to the weakside of the defensive line to accommodate the arrival of Courtney Brown, who is expected to man the strongside. The weakside position for the Broncos has produced 22 sacks the last two seasons (Bertrand Berry with 11.5 sacks in 2003 and Reggie Hayward with 10.5 in 2004). Pryce should rebound to his Pro Bowl form now that he's fully recovered from a back injury.
Pryce, who draws a lot of double-teams, finished the 2003 season with 41 tackles, 10 assists, and 8.5 sacks. He's a speed rusher who can bull over offensive lineman and should enjoy yet another solid campain in 2004.
Pryce has racked up 41 sacks the last four seasons, despite spending three of them at defensive tackle. During his first year at defensive end, he racked up a respectable nine sacks in 2002, and a repeat of that total is a good bet. Even with the addition of massive tackle Darryl Gardener, we don't think the other players on Denver's line are good enough to keep double teams off of Pryce, however.
