Kregg Lumpkin

Lumpkin spent 2009 on the Green Bay practice squad and will compete for a backup role.

Lumpkin entered last year’s training camp with little fanfare, but quickly became a preseason darling after impressing both in practice and in Green Bay’s preseason games. He enters 2009 needing another strong preseason to make the roster after missing most of last year’s regular season with a hamstring injury. Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn are the favorites to back up Ryan Grant, but coach Mike McCarthy likes Lumpkin’s aggressive running style and cautioned not to rule him out of the picture at running back. Unless he has an unbelievable camp and snags the No. 2 spot behind Grant, he can probably be safely ignored in fantasy drafts.

Lumpkin will compete with a handful of other backs to make Green Bay's roster. He has impressed Green Bay in the offseason and could be utilized on special teams.
