Arenas was signed by the Jets on Tuesday, NJ.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Arenas was added after defensive end Ikemefuna Enemkpali was cut from the team for punching Geno Smith. He's played for three NFL teams, appearing in 69 games, 12 of which he started. During his career, he recorded two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He's also been used as a kickoff and punt returner. His versatility could put him in the mix to compete for a roster spot.

Arenas will provide depth in nickel packages and may get some special teams work in 2014.
Arenas is expected to be the team's starting nickel cornerback and he will contribute on special teams as the primary punt returner.
Arenas is the No. 3 cornerback for the Chiefs and will serve as the primary nickelback. He will also split time with Dexter McCluster as a punt and kick returner. While he is a talented playmaker, who showed significant promise as a rookie in 2010, it's not likely he'll post enough tackles or interceptions to become a consistent IDP.
The nickelback spot was a problem area for Kansas City last season, but the Chiefs believe Arenas - a second-round pick - can provide an instant upgrade at the possession. He's an aggressive ballhawk who will probably not post enough stats to be an IDP consideration in standard leagues, though his potential roles as a kickoff and/or punt returner could push him into deep sleeper territory.
