Competing for roster spot at safety.
With no shortage of first-hand experience, Page could probably write a how-to book for gaining admittance to coach Todd Haley's doghouse. He knows the steps like the back of his hand: miss practice time due to questionable injuries, express a desire to be traded, and skip the team's offseason program. Page completed the trifecta, leaving his future with the team (unsurprisingly) in jeopardy. He did have 10 interceptions in his first three seasons, but with so much uncertainty around him, it's probably best to let him go undrafted in IDP leagues.
Page has steadily improved over the course of his three NFL seasons, finishing 2008 with 85 tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Kansas City's defense is undergoing a face lift, both in scheme and personnel, but there is no reason to expect Page's numbers to change significantly. He's worth a late-round pick in many IDP leagues.
Page snared three interceptions for the second straight year and recorded 59 tackles in 2007. He’s a decent source of picks, but his tackle numbers are far from elite, and the presence of rookie DaJuan Morgan could cut into his playing time. He’s not a good IDP option this year.
Although he rotated with Sammy Knight for most of the season, Page put his mark on several Chiefs games, finishing the year with three interceptions, a sack and five passes defended. Whether Page settles in as a free or strong safety remains unclear, but expect him to earn one of the two starting jobs and watch his ball skills reward fantasy owners with picks and pass breakups.
