Rest-of-Season Projections
Not returning to Pittsburgh in 2013
Leftwich isn't expected to be back with the Steelers in 2013, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "You make decisions to sustain or make decisions to change," general manager Kevin Colbert said. "This year we have to make decisions to change."
ANALYSIS
Although Ben Roethlisberger will only be 31 heading into next season, he has played a full 16 games just once since joining the league in 2006. Leftwich, 33, and fellow backup quarterback Charlie Batch, 38, are both free agents, so the Steelers will explore drafting a quarterback above the late rounds that they can groom for the future while serving as Roethlisberger's understudy.
