ANALYSIS
It took just two days following his release from the Jaguars for Cole to find a new home in New Orleans. There's still a good chance he'll find himself on the outside looking in at final cuts, but it's a good opportunity for him to showcase his abilities for the time being.

Cole entered last season with a shot at a starting job, but saw a limited reserve role with no more than 13 snaps on defense in any game. He'll likely have a reserve role again this season with the Vikings taking linebacker Eric Kendricks in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft.

Cole will need to earn a three-down role in training camp to justify this ranking, but he did well for himself during his 2013 audition, and the Vikings didn't add any noteworthy MLB talent in the draft or free agency. Cole showed significant IDP upside in his four starts last year, posting 42 tackles and a sack. So long as he beats out Jasper Brinkley for the starting MLB role and can hold off fellow youngsters like Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti, Cole should provide at least LB2 upside in most formats.

Cole is expected to serve as a backup at middle linebacker to the newly acquired Desmond Bishop.

Cole, Minnesota's 2012 seventh-round draft pick, was a Butkus Award semifinalist last season with 108 tackles and 5.5 sacks for N.C. State. He could win a backup role this summer, but it's not clear if he has the speed to eventually win a starting job.
