Polk (knee) did not get a carry nor was he targeted in Saturday's 30-0 loss to Kansas City in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

ANALYSIS
For a good portion of the regular season, after Arian Foster went down with a season-ending Achilles injury, Polk looked like a top backup who was threatening lead back Alfred Blue. But he eventually lost playing time to Jonathan Grimes and will enter the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. He had a career-high 99 carries for 334 yards (3.4 ypa) and caught 16 passes for 109 yards. The Texans may move on from Foster, opening up the running back job, but Polk isn't considered an offseason priority, though his organizational familiarity may be an asset.

Polk had some limited success with the Eagles in 2014, scoring four touchdowns and returning a kickoff for a score. The Texans were a run-heavy team last season and we expect a similar approach in 2015. Will there be enough attempts to spread around after Arian Foster and Alfred Blue get theirs? If an injury hits, Polk could be a player worth considering, but he figures to be a bit player on offense. However, the Texans have been seeking a kick returner, so there’s some room for Polk to make a mark on the team.

Polk took advantage of limited opportunities in 2013 by scoring a touchdown in three of the four games in which he received carries. The hybrid back underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason, but should be ready to go when the season kicks off. With Bryce Brown being traded to the Buffalo Bills, Polk should have a great chance to become the back-up to LeSean McCoy because Darren Sproles is more like a slot receiver than he is a running back.

Once a hyped prospect coming out of Washington, Polk surprisingly went undrafted in the 2012 draft. He managed to stick around Philadelphia as an RB/FB tweener as a rookie, and he'll try to do the same in 2013. Felix Jones looks like the primary threat to Polk's roster spot.

Polk has an outside shot at making the Philadelphia roster as a backup runner.
