Anderson (knee) has been released, according to BuffaloBills.com.
ANALYSIS
Anderson, who's been in the league since 2006, still probably has some football left in him, but there was really no specific fit for him in the Bills' new defense other than as a pass-rush specialist. It looks like the team will look to younger, healthier options as they try to rebuild quickly.

Anderson had been off the map since his 2006 rookie season, when he burst onto the NFL scene with 12 sacks. But he proved to be a much-needed addition for the Patriots last season, recording 10 sacks and raising his profile for free agency. The Bills snapped him up, where he's expected to start at defensive end opposite Mario Williams and will use his unique style of rushing the quarterback to create pressure. With the Bills being so strong elsewhere on the line and defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt known for having productive linemen in his schemes, we see little reason Anderson can't chalk up 8-10 sacks before the year is out.

Anderson, who is working his way back from a knee injury that cost him much of the 2012 season, seems to be slotted in as an outside linebacker/pass rusher in the team's new defense under new coordinator Mike Pettine, according to BuffaloBills.com.
