Robinson was released by the Panthers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Robinson was signed in May and was fighting for a depth role in the Panthers' receiving corps. It doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Robinson is yet to eclipse 400 receiving yards in a single season since entering the NFL in 2011.

Robinson spent 2018 in Minnesota and caught 17 passes for 231 yards, while setting a career high with five touchdowns. He's typically struggled when tasked with a large workload, but his stat line - 16.5 yards per catch and 14 TDs among 86 receptions - suggests he can give the Panthers offense a boost as a big-play weapon. Granted, the 30-year-old doesn't offer much value on special teams, and his career catch rate (47.8 percent) reflects the all-or-nothing nature of his contributions.
2017 was a disappointing season for the veteran wideout, as he underperformed and eventually fell behind an undrafted rookie (Kendrick Bourne) and a non-roster invitee (Louis Murphy) on the depth chart, despite having experience working with coach Kyle Shanahan in the past. Things are unlikely to change this year, as the core of San Francisco's receiving unit remains intact, in addition to two talented rookies joining the mix. Robinson will have to prove that he belongs during the preseason.
The 28-year-old free agent acquisition spent the majority of his 2016 season serving as a backup for the Falcons. However, Robinson did earn a start in Week 15 when Julio Jones was unavailable, and finished with four receptions for 111 yards. That performance coincidentally came against San Francisco, where a lower barrier of entry to playing time along with a familiarity of Kyle Shanahan's offense give him a head start in the competition for snaps this preseason.
Robinson is one of a few new faces who will be catching balls from Matt Ryan in 2016. He's currently listed as the fourth receiver on the depth chart, and Atlanta sees him as an option out of the slot. If he hangs on to his roster position, he could have a career year in 2016, but temper those expectations, as he's never had more than 400 yards or three touchdowns in a season in his five-year career.
Robinson spent the first four years of his career with the Redskins, catching 30-of-68 targets for 608 yards and five touchdowns in 36 games. He doesn't offer much besides deep speed and looked like a long shot to make the Baltimore roster, even before suffering a knee injury during offseason practices.
Robinson isn't consistent enough to be a reliable deep threat, and the offseason additions of DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts could cost him his roster spot entirely.
Robinson showed the ability to stretch defenses last season as a rookie, as he averaged 21.5 YPC. However, the catches were few and far between (11 receptions in 15 games), so until he develops into a more complete receiver, he is unlikely to make a fantasy impact.
Backup wide receiver will compete for the final wide receiver spot. He also has a chance to see time returning kicks.
