The Saints will take a look at McFarland Sunday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints may be looking to add a defensive tackle with Hollis Thomas out for a few months, but they still have plenty of depth at the position. Plus, McFarland reportedly failed a physical earlier in the offseason, which nullified a contract with the Steelers.

McFarland is a space-eater in the middle of the Colt's defensive line and racked up 41 tackles last year. After a couple of down years with Tampa Bay, it looks like McFarland is back on track to being an above-average defensive tackle.
One of the better run-stuffing defensive tackles in the league; started every game in 2005, the first time in four seasons the injury-plagued McFarland could do that. Two sacks in 2005, with 18 tackles, 9 assists and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
When healthy, McFarland is one of the best run-stoppers in the NFL. However, he's missed big chunks of each of the last three seasons due to injuries.
The Bucs will move McFarland from nose tackle to the under tackle spot left vacant by Warren Sapp's departure. McFarland played at that spot last season when Sapp was injured, and his fine performance there was one of the reasons the Bucs felt they could let Sapp move on. This could lead to increased sack opportunities for McFarland this season.
McFarland had 20 tackles (13 solo) and two sacks in half a season during 2003, as he was limited by various injuries that cost him the postseason. He's 100 percent coming into 2003, however. He's a run-stopper in the middle of the line, so he won't get a lot of sacks, but's he ruthlessly effective at what he does well.
