To undergo knee surgery, miss Music City Bowl
Westerkamp will undergo knee surgery Thursday and has been ruled out for Nebraska's upcoming bowl game against Tennessee, Brian Christopherson of the Lincoln Journal Star reports. "We obviously hate to lose Jordan. it was a non-contact, just making a cut. There was not any ligaments involved," said head coach Mike Riley.

Westerkamp is quietly creeping up on some pretty significant career benchmarks entering his senior season after putting up one of the best receiving seasons in Nebraska football history with 65 grabs for 918 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s Nebraska’s most established receiver and it’s clear that quarterback Tommy Armstrong feels confident when throwing in his direction. Westerkamp figures to get the bulk of the targets once again as a reliable option out of the slot that can also break off a big play here and there. A healthy De’Mornay Pierson-El and a healthy Brandon Reilly might limit Westerkamp’s upside, but he should safely remain the Cornhuskers’ lead wideout in 2016.
