ANALYSIS
Carter averaged 4.3 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds in three preseason games for the Nuggets. At age 37, he may have trouble gaining interest from other teams, and even if he does, he is not a fantasy option.

This savvy vet is 36 years old and has 12 years of professional experience. He has career averages of 4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg and 3.9 asp, and posted subtle all-around numbers of 4.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg and 2.3 apg during the tail end of last season with the Knicks. The Raptors won’t get as much from him this season, other than as a mentor to the young guys.
Carter returns for yet another season with the Nuggets but his job now is that of primary utility man and point guard insurance behind Billups and Lawson.
Carter returns for another season as Chauncey Billups' primary back-up. The only real issue is whether he'll be able to hang onto the job the full season or if rookie Ty Lawson will develop enough to overtake him. The good news for Carter is Karl has never been keen on giving rookies significant minutes, so any change that's going to come will mostly likely take some time to develop.
Carter stepped up and played well in the starting PG role last year after Atkins went down. As much as we can appreciate the job Carter did he's just not as dynamic or talented as Chucky Atkins and so we think he'll ultimately lose out on that job and be relegated to a 10-15 minute a night back-up job once Atkins proves he's fully healthy.
Carter was singled out by head coach George Karl as a guy capable of suprising a lot of people and earning significant minutes. We don't see him winning the starting PG job from Chucky Atkins or Allen Iverson but he will compete with guys like J.R. Smith and Von Wafer for the No. 3 guard role (i.e. first guard off the bench). That won't make him a viable fantasy option but a guy to keep an eye on should Atkins or Iverson go down for an extended period.
Likely to win the #3 point guard job with the Nuggets. A fantasy non-factor unless the Nuggets lose their entire backcourt to injury.
Carter will be a third-string point guard for the T-Wolves. That role got him playing time last season with injuries, but even then he didn't produce enough minutes for most fantasy leagues.
Carter will try to win a spot on the roster as the third point guard - a position the T-Wolves needed last season after Sam Cassell and Troy Hudson went down.
Last season with Miami, Carter averaged 4.1 points and 4.1 rebounds in 18.6 minutes in 49 games. In 26 games as a starter, he had 5.3 points, 5.4 assists and 1.09 steals in 23.8 minutes. He's got a much better surrounding cast as well. He is strictly a backup for San Antonio.
