Past Fantasy Outlooks

2008
Noonan got another taste of the majors in 2015 after struggling mightily (.219/.261/.238) during his first stint in 2013. Things didn't go much differently for Noonan the second time around, as he slashed a meager .091/.167/.273 in 14 September games. A 2004 supplemental first-round pick, Noonan never really figured it out in the minors. If it wasn't for his left-handedness and ability to play multiple positions, the Giants may not have hung onto him this long. He should start the year in the minors and serve as organizational depth.
Noonan saw 111 plate appearances with the Giants in 2013 filling in for Pablo Sandoval and Marco Scutaro when they went down with injuries. The 24-year-old didn't fare too well in the majors, slashing a measly .219/.261/.238 while providing almost no power at the plate (.019 ISO). He will likely start 2014 in the minors as the Giants have put more faith in Tony Abreu's ability to be used as a backup infielder.
The Giants selected Noonan in the supplemental round of the 2007 draft, No. 32 overall, out of high school in San Diego. Noonan finished at .316/.357/.451 with 18 steals in 52 games for the AZL Giants. Scouts love his bat but are uncertain where he will fit defensively in the long run. So far he is living up to offensive expectations, dominating rookie ball while showing impressive contact hitting skills, gap power and very good speed. Expect him to begin 2008 at Low-A.
