Paredes was released by the Phillies on Thursday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Paredes threw 6.1 scoreless spring innings, striking out 11 while walking just two, but it wasn't enough for him to break into the revamped Phillies bullpen. He'll look for work elsewhere but may have to settle for a minor-league deal.

2018 Fantasy Outlook
The 31-year-old journeyman, who has been in professional baseball since 2006, made his major-league debut last season after being selected by the Dodgers in the minor-league portion of the 2016 Rule 5 draft. He spent most of his season in the minors, posting a combined 2.25 ERA and 35.3 percent strikeout rate across 44 innings between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. The command came with him to the majors, with Paredes posting an 11:0 K:BB in 8.1 innings following his promotion. However, he went unused for three weeks after allowing three runs (the only runs he allowed in the majors) on four hits without recording an out in early September, so the Dodgers' trust in him still seems questionable. He figures to once again split time between the minors and majors in 2018.
