Jorge Campillo

Campillo enters 2009 without a spot in the Atlanta rotation despite a surprise breakout season. Campillo was an obscure minor league signing before the season started but worked his way into the rotation after several injuries and started strong with a 2.54 ERA in his first three months. He faded down the stretch as he was 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA in his last 10 starts. It was just Campillo's second full season back from Tommy John surgery, so he may not have been ready for the workload (especially after also throwing in winter ball). He's always had good control (107:38 K:BB ratio last season), but doesn't strike out enough batters for us to think he can sustain last year's success. He may be used in long relief.
