ANALYSIS
Condrey missed most of last season after tearing the flexor muscle in his elbow. He tried to rehab the injury, but wasn't able to get back to the majors. His 2011 status is in doubt as a result.

Condrey posted a solid ERA and vultured six wins last year, but struggled to overcome an oblique injury which limited his innings in the second half of the season. Condrey doesn't have great stuff and won't strike out many batters. He relies on solid control and pitching to contact. As long as there is a good defense behind him he can be of use to major league clubs as a middle reliever. He's not very interesting from a fantasy perspective as most of the value he generated last season was from the wins he picked up, and those aren't a simple byproduct of a relief pitcher's performance. Look elsewhere if you are speculating on relievers to round out your pitching staff this year.
Condrey was an effective arm out of the bullpen for Philadelphia in 2008, compiling a 3-4 record in 56 appearances with a 3.26 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 69 innings. At 33 years old, however, there’s not really any fantasy upside here and given that he’s been over the 1.50 mark at WHIP in each of the past three seasons, he’s not a very attractive option, even in leagues that count holds.
Condrey is never really going to make a serious impact in the majors, as he's unreliable in the pen and short on options, so long relief may be what he gets. Both of Condrey's saves last season came when he was the only arm left in the bullpen - so don't be misguided by the pure numbers - but it's nice to see a little success from a guy who seems dizzy from making so many trips between the minors and bigs.
Condrey is a Quadruple-A player, lacking the velocity or a knockout pitch to get him established in the majors. He pitched decently for the Phillies in 2006, but lefties hit .383 off of him. Pass.
The journeyman logged his second straight year as a starter at Triple-A. While he's too hittable to be a major league starter, if he learns a new pitch he could throw 50 decent mop-up innings.
Condrey is a former Padres farmhand who was bombed in Triple-A in 2004. He is a longshot ever to make an impact in the majors.
Condrey impressed in a 2002 call-up and began the 2003 season in the Padres' rotation. He posted some horrific numbers before falling to injury, then was optioned and finally outrighted off the 40-man roster in September. He isn't dominant enough to warrant a starting job, but will likely find either a long relief role or minor league work in 2004.
Condrey was impressive in a September call-up last season for the Pads, posting a miniscule 1.69 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in nine games. He surrendered 12 HRs in 133 2/3 AAA IP last year, but is still slated to start the season at the back end of the Padres’ rotation.
