Ahrens has yet to make it beyond Double-A ball despite being selected 16th overall in the 2007 draft. He's produced middling numbers throughout the lower levels of the minors, and hasn't really given the Blue Jays anything to be excited about.

Ahrens, a first-round selection out of high school by the Blue Jays in the 2007 draft, had a rough professional debut after signing quickly. He hit just .230/.339/.321 in 165 at-bats, but did manage 25 walks along the way. He projects well defensively and could end up at shortstop, which would be a nice bonus.
