Buscher inked a minor league deal with Cleveland with an invite to spring training.
ANALYSIS
He'll presumably compete with Andy Marte for a corner utility role with the Indians but does give the team another option at third base if the rebuilding Indians decide to trade Jhonny Peralta.

Buscher helped plug a hole at third base for the Twins last season as he platooned with Brendan Harris after June. Buscher has a strong eye at the plate, but offers little power or speed. He had just a .938 Fielding Percentage, but average range factor, so the Twins don't view his fielding as an asset. That may hurt his chances to win a utility role this spring with Joe Crede taking over at third base. If Crede is hurt, Buscher likely would resume the same platoon role at third base with Harris.
The former minor league Rule 5 pick from the Giants had a career year in the minors and parlayed it into playing time while the Twins were desperate for hitting at third base. While he has a strong eye at the plate, he likely doesn't hit for enough power to hold a regular job in the majors. He'll be given a shot to win playing time at third base this spring, but is more likely to be used in a utility role or sent back to Triple-A to provide depth. At age 27 next season, there's not much upside and without much power or speed he's not a great fantasy option.
A Rule 5 pick from the Giants last season.
